VIBRATO
“When someone speaks with intense emotion, whether it is inspired by sadness, joy, triumph, etc., that the voice often trembles. For me, the variation in the pitch and intensity of the note that we call vibrato communicates the emotion of the performer in an analogous way. I believe this is why people react emotionally to the sound of vibrato when it is used appropriately. I know that I do. I know that a beautifully executed vibrato on the right note can give me chills, make me feel exuberant, put me in a kind of trance. It happens to me every time I hear what I consider to be really great playing and singing.” - David finckel
